My Little Black Dress - Voting

Now it's time to vote for all the LBD's at Pattern Review's Contest. My dress is a dress with a wrapped part at the waist. My hope now is that you want to vote for my dress. You can find the voitng if you follow this link https://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/ContestGallery.pl?ContestID=291
At this picture you can see the wrap part. And I really like how it fits my body. I've lost some weigth the last months and I love how I look with this dress.
I often wore shorter skirts before but now I like the length just around my knees.
The dress is just as perfect with a cardigan to work...
 ...as for an evening out.

First attempt of the dress

I'm a slow sewer. There are so many things to check up and even if the sewing are supposed to go quick it take "forever". But yesterday I sewed this first attempt of the dress for my SWAP. I already love it and I've cut my next and hope to sew it tonight. Let's see if that happen. =D

Lovely Pattern Collection

It's not a Black Friday Sale but a really good price för a pattern collection. I searched for the cardi pattern and found a collection with 11 patterns for the price of two where I except the cardi pattern want to try the jacket, both skirts, top and maybe one of the dresses.
Even if it's BurdaStyle Patterns you can buy the collection at Interweave. Here's the link.
This is the cardi I was looking for.I think that my thoughts already are in spring and summer planning.

More planning

I've planned a little more and I think it'll be good if I sew garment's in a order so I get some outfits along the way. That will make it easier to takes photos every month and not wait with all until the end of April.
I wrote down every garment on a note (on the right) and then puzzled to get some nice outfits and wrote them down on the lower left. I write my notes mostly in swedish.
I'm happy with the result this far.
This afternoon I'll finish a pencil skirt to check the pattern once again. I've lost some weight and had to draw new patterns. But I think I succeed making this skirt. I will sew both a black and a light beige pencil skirt for my SWAP later on.

SWAP 2018 rules are out

I love this time of year when the rules for the coming SWAP Contest at Stitcher's Guild comes out. I always plan for it but not finish so often. But it's really fun to plan and choose fabrics and so on.
This is my first attempt to chose fabrics from my stash. We'll see if it will be these or something else.
I want to sew a collection with clothes to wear at parties or similar events. And the base will be a sheat dress, pencil skirt and a jacket in black cotton gabardine with a little stretch.

The "rules" are:
Plan:
Choose two neutral colors
Add one accent color and two prints OR two accent colors and one print
Make at least three garments from each neutral color
Make at least one garment from each accent color
Make at least one garment from each print
Remaining two garments may be made from any one or combination of your neutrals, accent(s) and/or print(s)

Create multiple outfits of at least two garments that work for your personal style
Each garment must work with a minimum of two outfits
Optional Accessory: add one self-made accessory as a signature piece that works with at least two of  your outfits

LBD

I'm back again and this time I hope I'll come back to sewing more frequently. This time of year I always want to sew some nice blouses, dresses and skirts. And this year I'm in sort of a weight loss and I really need some new clothes.
As a part of this longing for new dresses I've entered a little black dress contest at Pattern Review and I hope to get a new LBD to use in the coming holiday's.

Little Black Dress Contest 2017

I'll will check my pattern magazines today and see what I can come up with. I think I have a suiting fabric but my biggest challenge will be to accessorize the outfit. I'm not used to it so that will be a challenge.

The rules for this contest:
1) Make a dress that fits the spirit of the description.
2) The color must be black.
3) A minimum of 3 pictures are required in your review: one of the dress unadorned, one of the dress as a daytime look, and one of the dress accessorized for evening wear. You may want to include more so that you can show additional views or special details.
To establish a common base for the definition of an LBD, here is a description from Wikipedia:
A little black dress is an evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often quite short. Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel, intended to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color. Its ubiquity is such that it is often simply referred to as the "LBD."
The "little black dress" is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers, who believe it a "rule of fashion" that every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion: for example, worn with a jacket and pumps for daytime business wear or with more ornate jewelry and accessories for evening. Because it is meant to be a staple of the wardrobe for a number of years, the style of the little black dress ideally should be as simple as possible: a short black dress that is too clearly part of a trend would not qualify because it would soon appear dated.

Sewing for Autumn

It's been a long time since I wrote here but there is so much going on that I haven't had time. You get more often updates if you come to my instagram place @medeasgarderob

As usual I want to sew a Granville Shirt. I use my sleeveless Granvilles all the time, even in winter. But I want to sew one with long arms and see if I like it. Second is a long cardigan from Knipmode that I've sewn a couple of that pattern before and like it. This will be in a brown linen knit. Maybe I have to find a brown matching fabric for a skirt or I wear it with my denim pencil skirts.

My high priority project the coming months is my navy blue coat in wool crepe. The coat is Quart Coat from Pauline Alice. She makes pattern for short people so I have to adjust before I sew, but I've sewn a dress from her and it worked. So I hope this will be beautiful.

On the lower row there are things I need and I'll see if I can find time to also sew a slip, at least one bra (Marlbourogh Bra) and some panties. If I have time I also want to sew a blouse and maybe a dress from my Laurel Dress Pattern.

Finished everything

There are ten garments sewn by me and one bought jacket. I think I will use all of them a lot. Don't miss my everyday outfits in May. It's #mmmay17 and you'll find me at @medeasgarderob

Since last time...

Now it's already the end of April and Stitcher's Guild's SWAP is closing on next Sunday, the 7th May. I haven't sewn all the things I planned for but I sewn some other garments. Maybe I'll manage to finished all of them completely before Sunday.
I've started to put my garments in a sudoku board to make my outfits. Let's see how it works.

My sewing list

These are the garments I plan to sew in the near future. The dress and the black shirt is already cut and the red skirt is sewn. So maybe I'll start with these when I come home in the end of February. I really need one or two new pencil skirts in jeans fabric so these  need a high priority. And the long cardigan will be a fast project so I will cut that before the printed Granville Shirt even if I really want to wear it.
There will be a sewing marathon when I finally reach my french home in a couple of weeks.

Winter 6 PAC

These are my latest finished garments. I haven't sewn for more than a month but before christmas I finished these.
The black pencil skirt is one of my early garments for my SWAP at Stitcher's Guild's yearly swap contest and I will soon start to sew more of what I planned. The only problem is that all my fabrics are in my french home and I will not come there until the end of February.
I used these patterns:
Navy blue pencil skirt in heavy jersey; Kirsty Jupe from La Maison Victor.
Top in the same navy blue jersey: Pattern from Stof & Stil, same as the dress in this post.
Cézembre blouse in a single jersey: Anne Kerdiles Couture.
Navy blue wrap cardigan in a blue angora wool knit: Pattern from Papercut Patterns.
Gertie's Pencil Skirt from her first book.
Plantain Tee from Deer & Doe Patterns
Aldaia Dress från Pauline Alice.

Stitcher's Guild

I've missed Stitcher's Guild since the site is down. But today I found a blog post about it at Ruthie's place and then I went to Pattern Review to read more about it. You'll find the thread here.
