I've also cleaned out my closet with help of Marie Kondo and there isn't much left.
Let's see if I can make a wardrobe to love.♥ Medea ♥http://www.blogger.com/profile/06548122226094266782noreply@blogger.comBlogger31125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-15141534053769070452018-10-03T13:32:00.000+02:002018-10-03T13:36:51.045+02:00Mini Wardrobe ContestI've been busy with life and haven't been here for a long time. But now I'm close to my sewing machines again.
In September I've sewn a mini Wardrobe with five garments to wear in different outfits. It was a contest at Pattern Review and my contribution was three tops and two skirts. I already love these garments and want to add some more to this wardrobe to make it even more useful.
Today I wore this t-shirt in linen jersey and a thrifted skirt. We have summer warmth in Provence and it's lovely to wear my summer clothes even if I have some gaps to fill.Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-55591926685912537762018-04-15T15:48:00.002+02:002018-04-15T15:52:41.170+02:00Last daysI've been busy during the last weeks but I've registered what I wore every day. I also joined the spring edition of 10x10 and that was fun even if I was a bit bored the 7th day or so. But I had no problem wearing my 10 garments in 10 days. You can see my different outfits with the hashtag #medeas10x10

After the 10x10 Challenge I've started to take pics of my progressive wardrobe and here are the latest days. All outfits from my Stylebook App.

What I clearly can see is that I mostly wear navyblue garments. And I love it. I think my style is a little bit too casual for my taste but I will sew more blouses and dresses to fill the gap. I can soon go to parties where I'm supposed to wear something nicer.

I've missed to fill in my list of which clothes I wore but it's not important. The most important thing for me is to see and feel which clothes makes me most comfortable and happy. And what holes to fill in when I plan my sewing.Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-24944040609039459542018-03-25T14:10:00.002+02:002018-03-25T14:10:32.455+02:00I wear what I sew

Today it's the 18th day of my progressive capsule challenge. I try to use all the garments which is hanging in my wardrobe, just to see how I like all of them. There are a few that I think will move on, but I like most of them.

A couple of days ago I wore my newly sewn Granville Shirt and I really liked it. I've lost some weight and a couple of sizes so this was my first one in the new size and I think it's close to perfect. Maybe I'll make the sleeves a little bit longer next time.
I've also updated my Stylebook App with my new garments. I took new photos of old garments to get them better. Last time I took photos I just hanged the garments on a hanger but now I used my dressmaking mannequin and the pictures get som much nicer.
I haven't worn jeans or pants since 2011 but I will try again and see if I like it. I have fabric for another pair but maybe I'll wait until autumn because in summer there is no use for jeans in Provence, where I live.

But I've never worn blue clothes, more than jeans, until a couple of years ago when I decided to just try. And now it's one of my favorite colors.

Today I wore three newly sewn garments. The t-shirt is a Simone Top from the swedish designer Jenny Hellström's first book. The longline cardigan is from the dutch sewing magazine Knipmode and the skirt is a favorite from the finnish sewing magazine Ottobre Design.

But now it's time to sit in front of my sewing machines and get some work done.
I've joined the #MakeNine2018 and also the Wardrobe Contest at Pattern Review. And I'll combine both the SWAP sewing for Stitcher's Guild and these two other contests.

This is what I want to sew for my new wardrobe and then add the garments to the contest at Pattern Review.

Here's my #makenine2018 board and as you can see there are some of the same patterns and some others. I tried a t-shirt pattern, Simone Top, from Jenny Hellström and sewed one in a viscose jersey and one i wool jersey.

Here are my big plan for Stitcher's Guild SWAP and of course there are the same garments as before and the dress that I already sewn.

The new garment on the first picture is Ginger Jeans. I never wear jeans since 2011 but maybe I'll try that again. I love wearing skirts and dresses but I also love the look of the Ginger Jeans. So I will sew at least one pair and then see if I love to wear them.

Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-65571248637728841772017-12-04T08:17:00.002+01:002018-02-04T11:41:40.914+01:00My Little Black Dress - Voting

At this picture you can see the wrap part. And I really like how it fits my body. I've lost some weigth the last months and I love how I look with this dress.
I'm a slow sewer. There are so many things to check up and even if the sewing are supposed to go quick it take "forever". But yesterday I sewed this first attempt of the dress for my SWAP. I already love it and I've cut my next and hope to sew it tonight. Let's see if that happen. =DEfwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-64032697136693020912017-11-24T10:36:00.002+01:002017-11-24T10:36:55.197+01:00Lovely Pattern CollectionIt's not a Black Friday Sale but a really good price för a pattern collection. That will make it easier to takes photos every month and not wait with all until the end of April.

I wrote down every garment on a note (on the right) and then puzzled to get some nice outfits and wrote them down on the lower left. I write my notes mostly in swedish.
I'm happy with the result this far.
This afternoon I'll finish a pencil skirt to check the pattern once again. I've lost some weight and had to draw new patterns. But I think I succeed making this skirt. I will sew both a black and a light beige pencil skirt for my SWAP later on.Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-7465642743477751512017-11-02T11:31:00.000+01:002017-11-02T11:35:17.486+01:00SWAP 2018 rules are outI love this time of year when the rules for the coming SWAP Contest at Stitcher's Guild comes out. I always plan for it but not finish so often. But it's really fun to plan and choose fabrics and so on.

This is my first attempt to chose fabrics from my stash. We'll see if it will be these or something else.
I want to sew a collection with clothes to wear at parties or similar events. And the base will be a sheat dress, pencil skirt and a jacket in black cotton gabardine with a little stretch.

The "rules" are:
Plan:
Choose two neutral colors
Add one accent color and two prints OR two accent colors and one print
Make at least three garments from each neutral color
Make at least one garment from each accent color
Make at least one garment from each print
Remaining two garments may be made from any one or combination of your neutrals, accent(s) and/or print(s)

Create multiple outfits of at least two garments that work for your personal style
Each garment must work with a minimum of two outfits
Optional Accessory: add one self-made accessory as a signature piece that works with at least two of your outfits
This time of year I always want to sew some nice blouses, dresses and skirts. And this year I'm in sort of a weight loss and I really need some new clothes.
As a part of this longing for new dresses I've entered a little black dress contest at Pattern Review and I hope to get a new LBD to use in the coming holiday's.

I'll will check my pattern magazines today and see what I can come up with. I think I have a suiting fabric but my biggest challenge will be to accessorize the outfit. I'm not used to it so that will be a challenge.

The rules for this contest:

1) Make a dress that fits the spirit of the description.

2) The color must be black.

3) A minimum of 3 pictures are required in your review: one of the dress unadorned, one of the dress as a daytime look, and one of the dress accessorized for evening wear. You may want to include more so that you can show additional views or special details.

To establish a common base for the definition of an LBD, here is a description from Wikipedia:

A little black dress is an evening or cocktail dress, cut simply and often quite short. Fashion historians ascribe the origins of the little black dress to the 1920s designs of Coco Chanel, intended to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color. Its ubiquity is such that it is often simply referred to as the "LBD."

The "little black dress" is considered essential to a complete wardrobe by many women and fashion observers, who believe it a "rule of fashion" that every woman should own a simple, elegant black dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion: for example, worn with a jacket and pumps for daytime business wear or with more ornate jewelry and accessories for evening. Because it is meant to be a staple of the wardrobe for a number of years, the style of the little black dress ideally should be as simple as possible: a short black dress that is too clearly part of a trend would not qualify because it would soon appear dated.

As usual I want to sew a Granville Shirt. I use my sleeveless Granvilles all the time, even in winter. But I want to sew one with long arms and see if I like it. Second is a long cardigan from Knipmode that I've sewn a couple of that pattern before and like it. This will be in a brown linen knit. Maybe I have to find a brown matching fabric for a skirt or I wear it with my denim pencil skirts.

My high priority project the coming months is my navy blue coat in wool crepe. The coat is Quart Coat from Pauline Alice. She makes pattern for short people so I have to adjust before I sew, but I've sewn a dress from her and it worked. So I hope this will be beautiful.

On the lower row there are things I need and I'll see if I can find time to also sew a slip, at least one bra (Marlbourogh Bra) and some panties. If I have time I also want to sew a blouse and maybe a dress from my Laurel Dress Pattern.Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-30772527688244000112017-05-04T21:26:00.003+02:002017-05-09T18:48:12.211+02:00Finished everything

I haven't sewn all the things I planned for but I sewn some other garments. Maybe I'll manage to finished all of them completely before Sunday.

I've started to put my garments in a sudoku board to make my outfits. Let's see how it works.

These are the garments I plan to sew in the near future. The dress and the black shirt is already cut and the red skirt is sewn. So maybe I'll start with these when I come home in the end of February. I really need one or two new pencil skirts in jeans fabric so these need a high priority. And the long cardigan will be a fast project so I will cut that before the printed Granville Shirt even if I really want to wear it.
There will be a sewing marathon when I finally reach my french home in a couple of weeks.Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-11308032101272968502017-02-04T11:02:00.000+01:002017-02-04T11:02:09.664+01:00Winter 6 PACThese are my latest finished garments. I haven't sewn for more than a month but before christmas I finished these.
The black pencil skirt is one of my early garments for my SWAP at Stitcher's Guild's yearly swap contest and I will soon start to sew more of what I planned. The only problem is that all my fabrics are in my french home and I will not come there until the end of February.
I used these patterns:
Navy blue pencil skirt in heavy jersey; Kirsty Jupe from La Maison Victor.
Top in the same navy blue jersey: Pattern from Stof & Stil, same as the dress in this post.
Cézembre blouse in a single jersey: Anne Kerdiles Couture.
Navy blue wrap cardigan in a blue angora wool knit: Pattern from Papercut Patterns.
Gertie's Pencil Skirt from her first book.
Plantain Tee from Deer & Doe Patterns
I've missed Stitcher's Guild since the site is down. But today I found a blog post about it at Ruthie's place and then I went to Pattern Review to read more about it. You'll find the thread here.Efwa - Medeahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17581921687909705814noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-59004975583890953312016-12-01T12:33:00.004+01:002016-12-01T13:31:11.169+01:006 PAC planningI'm not only planning for the SWAP2017 but also for the 6PAC sewing for winter. I thought at first that I would only sew garments from my swap2017 collection but I realized that I want to sew more than two items before the grand contest starts. Two garments is allowed to sew before the 26th December.
In this 6 PAC I still have my long cardigan i navy woolknit, a pencil skirt and a Plantain Tee. But I've added an Aldaia Dress in black jersey and a Quart Coat in a lovely navy wool. I need these garments right away so I've already started with pattern fitting and I'm cutting out the dress in this minute.♥ Medea ♥http://www.blogger.com/profile/06548122226094266782noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7901687951272111041.post-6926018569230774482016-11-22T18:47:00.000+01:002016-11-22T18:54:30.302+01:00Preparations

I've been away from here for a while. Mostly because I've traveled to my french home and I also had some busy time planning for what to sew, cut some of those garments and sew a few.

But first I'll show you my plan for what to sew in the SWAP 2017 Contest at Stitcher's Guild. The rules this time is simple and easy to follow.

2017 Less is More SWAP Rules
Eleven garments divided between Upper, Lower and Over pieces. These are tops and dresses; bottoms; and layers, all defined later. There are minimums and maximums in each category, to provide balance and variety. You decide the final distribution.

Upper: Minimum 3, maximum 5.
Lower: Minimum 3, maximum 5.
Over: Minimum 2, maximum 5. No more than ½ may be outerwear.

Your twist: Each garment in a category must work with at least half of the garments in each of the other two categories. Example 5 Upper, 3 Lower, and 3 Over. Each upper would need to work with 2 Lower and 2 Over garments in combinations that you will actually wear.

NEW: Because the number of layers is expanded and due to current fashion, layers can also be sheer materials, such as lace or eyelet. If Over pieces can also be layered together over other pieces, that is fine. Having pinafores in this category is also new this year.

PATTERNS: A minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 patterns can be used. Two or three items will repeat but the garments don’t need to be identical. Use your imagination. Designed to develop TNT patterns.

This plan rewards simplicity. The more you coordinate the less trouble you will have getting finished. The more complex you get with your garment types and color choices the more planning you will need to do to pull it off. I highly recommend working it out on paper. With this you will be choosing your difficulty level. Simple is easy to pull off.
You won’t be sewing any orphans or 11 of one category, but it is possible to create different groups in different colorways with more planning.

You may use one previously sewn item, completed by November 5th, when the Rules were posted.

You may make 2 “Early Bird” garments, begun on or after November 5th, when the Rules were posted and completed prior to December 26th, the official start of sewing.
You may use one purchased item, bought at any time through April 30th, 2017.

The above are tools; use them to your advantage!

Sewing will begin December 26th, your time, and all garments must be finished by April 30th, 2017. Muslins, pattern fitting and fabric cutting may be started whenever you are ready.

I made my plan quickly and maybe there will be some changes down the road, but in overall it looks like this:

"The overs" is one knitted cardigan called Dark Pearl Cardigan (ravelry link) and I will knit it with a lovely navy blue yarn from Wollmeise. It's called Blend and it's 70% Merino, 20% Cashmere goat, 10% Nylon.

The other one in group Overs is a long cardigan from Knipmode, which I will sew in a wool knit bought at the market in my french town. They said it was wool angora but I don't really think it's totally true.

In the middle row are the Uppers which in my case will be two Granville Shirts, two Plantain Tees and probably a dress in stretchtwill. Maybe I will switch this for something else.

I the bottom row there are three pencil skirts for which I will use a pattern from Gertie's first book. The red pencil skirt is a skirt from La Maison Victor and it's called Kristy Jupe. I'll sew it in a red double knit.
